Stuart Robbin is a Managing Director with Sunera responsible for client relationships and engagements in the northeast United States and eastern Canada. Stuart has more than 25 years experience in financial roles encompassing transactional, operational and management functions. His expertise includes strategic planning, accounting and internal audit, process improvement, mergers and acquisitions, and due diligence.
Prior to joining Sunera, Stuart was a Partner at Control Solutions International and lead internal audit and compliance engagements. These engagements encompassed Section 404 and MI 52-109 compliance initiatives as well as operational reviews, best practice audits, business process re-engineering, construction audits, risk assessments and fraud reviews.
Prior to joining Control Solutions, Stuart was the Chief Financial Officer of Willow Laboratories and Medical Center, an outpatient clinic and testing laboratory specializing in drug testing. Stuart was responsible for all financial aspects of the operation, including third-party billing, management of the company’s bank relationships, and preparation of financial statements and tax returns.
From 2000 through 2003, Stuart was the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Prospero Technologies Corporation. Recruited by the company’s Chairman, Stuart was hired to control the burn rate and find a merger partner/acquirer for the company. Stuart reduced the monthly burn rate to cash flow break-even with no reduction in revenue from the core business, and he was successful in finding a merger partner for the company to consummate the sale of the company’s assets in three separate transactions.
From 1995 to 2000, Stuart was Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Insurance Holdings of America Inc. (IHA), an insurance distribution and technology company. While at IHA, Stuart raised $108 million in private capital through four rounds of private funding to a post-money valuation of $250 million. He built finance and accounting departments that supported up to 450 employees and an annual operating budget of $55 million. He also managed the human resources, strategic planning, facilities, purchasing and MIS areas. Stuart developed all commercial and investment banking relationships and served as primary liaison between management and outside investors.
Previously, Stuart was Vice President of American Finance Group, Inc. (AFG), an equipment leasing, syndication and investment company, and had responsibility for the pricing, structuring and management of all equipment lease transactions. While at AFG, Stuart developed sophisticated financial models to analyze future corporate cash flow, borrowing potential and asset valuations. Stuart was a principal of AFG’s broker/dealer subsidiary with emphasis on selling agent due diligence.
Stuart has held Series 7, 22, 24, 27 and 63 securities licenses (all expired).
